Thekkady Kerala

Thekkady is situated around 257 km (160 mi) from Trivandrum, 114 km from Madurai City and Madurai Airport, 145 km from Cochin International Airport and 114 km from Kottayam railroad station. Thekkady is situated close to Kerala-Tamil Nadu outskirt. The asylum is renowned for its thick evergreen, semi-evergreen, damp deciduous woodlands and savanna fields. It is home to crowds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-followed macaques and Nilgiri langurs. 

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is spread crosswise over 777 km2 (300 sq mi), of which 360 km2 (140 sq mi) is thick evergreen woodland. The natural life asylum was announced a tiger save in 1978. The stunning counterfeit lake shaped by the Mullaperiyar Dam over the Periyar River adds to the appeal of the recreation center.
