Satara is a city situated in the Satara Region of Maharashtra condition of India, close to the intersection of the waterway Krishna and its tributary stream Venna. The city was built up in the sixteenth century and was the seat of Raja of Satara Chhatrapati Shahu.
It is the central station of Satara Tahsil, and additionally Satara Region. The city gets the name from Seven-forts(Sat-Tara) which are near the city.
